Special Collections Librarian Emeritus Philip Weimerskirch will conduct a brief discussion of the Nicholson Whaling Collection, prior to a presentaion by Eric Jay Dolan, author of LEVIATHAN: The History of Whaling in America.

Dolin will discuss his latest book (published June 2007) and make a slide presentation on the epic history of the "iron men in wooden boats" who built an industrial empire through the pursuit of whales.
