About Bill Ochester
Following retirement in 1998 from a career in Cardio Thoracic Surgery, Bill Ochester has passionately pursued his lifelong interest in early American History and Bill now considers himself to be a full-time 18th Century historical interpreter. He has spent several years on the interpretive staff at the National Constitution Center and was involved with the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary Exhibit in its 2006 Philadelphia debut. He is a board member of the American Revolution Round Table of Philadelphia and an historical tour guide in Old City Philadelphia and Valley Forge. As an active command staff officer for the Fourth Continental Light Dragoons living history group, Bill has participated in and led his Regiment in numerous Revolutionary War re-enactment battles. He commands the Dismounted Section of this recreated Revolutionary War Cavalry regiment and serves as the Training and Safety Officer for the group.
Bill notes that the portrayal of Benjamin Franklin is his primary focus at this time, and that his fondest wish is that his interactions with the public in the character of Dr. Franklin may serve to pique their curiosity and inspire them to learn more about this remarkable character in American History.

Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World was organized by the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary, Philadelphia, and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. The traveling exhibition for libraries has been made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: great ideas brought to life. The traveling exhibition is based on a major exhibition of the same name mounted by the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Franklin's birth. The Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary is a nonprofit organization established through a major grant from The Pew Charitable Trusts to educate the public about Franklin's enduring legacy.
