Jazz @ Rochambeau is a new series of musical performances supported by the Friends of Rochambeau and hosted by jazz impresario and keyboardist Mike Miller.
This month, joining the Mike Miller Quartet is featured artist Stan Ellis on drums and vocals.
Stan Ellis graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 1968. While attending Berklee he studied percussion with Boston Pops drummer Fred Buda, drum set and vibes with Alan Dawson, arranging and harmony with John LaPorta and Herb Pomeroy and ensembles with Charlie Mariano. He also attended master clinics with Dave Brubeck's original drummer, Joe Morello.
Stan has performed with a diverse group of musicians. His list includes Grey Sargent (Tony Bennett), Rebecca Parris, Eddie Higgins, Dick Johnson, Lou Columbo, John Hendricks, Greg Abate, James Caamack (Ahmad Jahmal), John Harrison, Jim Porcella and John Lockwood among others. He is a composer, writer and producer. His latest CD, Boston Standard Times, contains all original material.
