Jazz @ Rochambeau is a new series of musical performances celebrating some of our best local jazz talent. It is supported by the Friends of Rochambeau and hosted by jazz impresario and keyboardist Mike Miller.

This month, joining the Mike Miller Quartet is featured artist Wensday on vocals.

A soulful singer/songwriter who transcends genres, Wensday exploded onto the scene with her critically acclaimed album "Torch Rock" in 2007. "Torch Rock" was produced and co-written by legendary guitarist, songwriter, and producer Dick Wagner. "Torch Rock" was on the 2007 Grammy Ballot in nine categories including "Best Pop Vocal", "Best Blues Vocal" and "Record of the Year." Called "the other girl next door" by Alice Cooper, Wensday has been lauded for her vocal skills and dynamic performances. Wensday was raised in Providence, RI attended the Wheeler School, and received a BFA in Drama from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Wensday sang jazz and rock and roll in restaurants and nightclubs for years before getting signed to Desert Dreams Records in 2006. Besides singing, writing and performing, Wensday has also been a Theatre Educator who has touched the lives of hundreds of children through her work at All Children's Theatre in RI. Wensday uses her notoriety to spread awareness about violence against women and children and works directly with victims of domestic abuse teaching theatre and voice as a means of healing and empowerment.
