For five weeks this spring, the Providence Public Library welcomes you to travel through time, visit utopian and dystopian worlds, and experience multiple dimensions as we present Portals: History of the Future Film Series. Spanning 100 years of the moving image, we invite you to take a deep dive into our collective psyches, to discover how through time, cinema has captured our imaginations of our future world(s). From the fantastical to the disastrous, the hilarious to the incredible, each film sheds light on our collective hopes, dreams and fears about what the future holds.

Tardis, a time machine disguised as a police telephone box is accidentally activated by its inventor, Scientist Dr. Who. Inadvertently, he and his companions are transported through time and space to the planet Skaro, inhabited by a peaceful race called the Thals. Upon their arrival, The Thals are under threat of nuclear attack from the evil robotic mutant Daleks. Based on a story from the BBC TV serial "Doctor Who”.
