Living Literature Presents: Louisa May Alcott's Life Sketches
Proud to participate in an ALA and NEH grant written by the Providence Public Library in support of the Louisa May Alcott Library Outreach Program, Living Literature will present Louisa May Alcott's Life Sketches in a 45-minute, two-person, readers theatre-style presentation.
Sharing the early life of Louisa May Alcott, using her own words, this presentation is based on three of her sketches taken from Reminiscences of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Recollections of My Childhood, and Hospital Sketches. These sketches are among the most straightforwardly autobiographical of Alcott's works, and share a side of this author that many of her readers may not be familiar with.
Louisa May Alcott programs are sponsored through a grant by the American Library Association Public Programs Office with the support of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Additionally, programs have been funded by The John C.A. Watkins Fund for Lifelong Learning at PPL.
Providence Public Library (PPL) proudly presents Louisa May Alcott programming in collaboration with the Alliance for the Study & Teaching of Adolescent Literature at Rhode Island College, Living Literature, Rhode Island Historical Society, the Providence Athenaeum, and Barrington and North Kingstown Public Libraries.
