Mark the 100th anniversary of the Scituate Reservoir and learn more about the community costs to create the structure.  A native of Scituate, Raymond Wolf has authored fourteen books on Rhode Island history with a focus on the “lost Villages” and the construction of the Scituate Reservoir.  His intense interest in history comes directly from his mother, Helen Larson, who was born in the village of Rockland in 1910.  Her entire village was eliminated to make way for the reservoir.

Ray will focus his talk on the villages of Scituate—the “Lost Villages”—that were swept away in the name of progress, but kept alive by Ray’s recounting of that memorable chapter in Rhode Island’s history. Ray will have copies of his books on the Lost Villages for sale following his talk.

Learn more about the topic at an exhibition at Providence City Hall hosted by the Providence City Archives.
