NGRID- Rhode Island Fine Art of Recycling Launch Event
Tuesday, July 19, 2011
1:00 PM-4:00 PM
Burnside Park in Downtown Providence, RI
As a public service, Providence Public Library invites Rhode Island non-profit organizations to post their programs/events of statewide interest on our Calendar of Events. Although we attempt to ensure authenticity and accuracy of content, we recommend that you contact the organization posting this event for verification.
Join Mayor Angel Taveras and representatives of National Grid and the Environmental Protection Agency as they unveil a unique art installation in downtown Providence on Tuesday, Jul 19 at 1:00 pm in Burnside Park. Mayor Taveras will help officially launch National Grid's "The Fine Art of Rcycling: Saving is an Art" campaign with the unveiling of one of 9 themed sculptures created by a diverse group of local artists using recycled refrigerators.
The exhibit is part of an effort to create awareness of National Grid's refrigerator recycling program, which offers incentives and rebates to consumers to responsibly recycle their old refrigerators and freezers. The public is invited to join Mayor Taveras for this fun event, which kicks-off at 1:00 pm with a brief press conference, followed by a celebration featuring music, food and activities for kids.
