01/09/09 Library Offers Introductory Classes in Basic Computer & Resume Preparation

Providence Public Library (PPL) is offering three free Introductory in Basic Computer & Resume Preparation classes at the Central Library, 150 Empire Street, Providence.

Classes will be held: Wednesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 28 from 10:30 am – 12 Noon and Thursday, January 29 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Registration is required by calling 455-8064.

Participants will be shown how to use Winway Resume, a software program on all of PPL’s public access computers. Library staff will also share some basic “do’s and don’ts” when writing a resume. Participants will learn how to get an email account, as well as how to attach their resume to an email, which is important in online job seeking today. In addition, Library staff will provide a list of job-searching sites.

Participants in this class should be comfortable using a computer (mouse, keyboard) and should bring any personal information for use in working on their resume.
