Providence Public Library Announces New & Expanded Open Hours to Begin July 6

Beginning Monday, July 6, Providence Public Library (PPL) will be open an additional five hours each week.  At the same time, the Library’s weekly schedule will change to the following:

Monday    12:30 – 8:30 pm

Tuesday     9:30 – 5:30 pm

Wednesday   12:30 – 8:30 pm

Thursday   12:30 – 5:30 pm

Friday       12:30 – 5:30 pm

Saturday     9:30 – 2:30 pm

Sunday (currently closed for summer; re-open mid-Oct.- mid-May) 1:00 – 5:00 pm


Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative Receives $10,000 Grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to Support Adult Literacy Programs

Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI), based at Providence Public Library PPL), was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation in support of statewide adult literacy programs.  According to Karisa Tashjian, Director of RIFLI and PPL Adult Literacy Services, the grant will specifically support literacy and citizenship instruction for 125 adult immigrants at the William Hall and Auburn Libraries in Cranston, RI, for 2015-16.
