Interested in Learning to Drum? Drumming Classes Now Offered at PPL with Sidy Maiga beginning January 4

Providence Public Library is pleased to offer drumming classes with master percussionist Sidy Maïga beginning Monday, January 4 in the Library’s Auditorium, 3rd Floor (150 Empire Street, Providence).

The classes will be held weekly from 6:30 – 7:30 pm on Monday evenings, excluding holidays.  The cost is $15 per class.  To register, email: .

Computer Science Education Week Coding Classes at PPL

Next week kicks off Computer Science Education Week and the Hour of Code.  With the assistance of <IntraCity> Geeks and Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, Providence Public Library will be teaching coding to local students on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (December 8, 10 and 11) from 3 – 5 pm.

Freedom Journey 1965 photographer Stephen Somerstein will be at Providence Public Library (150 Empire Street) on Wednesday, December 9 (7:30 – 9 pm) to give his reflections from 50 years ago and participate in a panel discussion.  The panel includes: Somerstein, Clifford Montiero, former president of the Providence NAACP and a participant in the Selma-to-Montgomery March, and Rev.
