Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative at PPL Receives $10,000 from Wells Fargo

Grant Will Support Statewide Adult Literacy Programs

Providence Public Library (PPL), has received a $10,000 grant from Wells Fargo in support of statewide adult literacy programs. The grant will directly support literacy and citizenship instruction, as well as integral program supplies and technology, for the more than 250 adult immigrants enrolled in the 2016-2017 academic year.

Providence Public Library Announces Acquisition of AS220 Collection

The Special Collections Department at Providence Public Library (PPL) recently acquired the organizational archives of AS220, a nationally recognized arts organization in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 1985, AS220 is credited as a national model for urban revitalization and in its advocacy for the role of artists and art practice within community development.

Beginning in January 2017, Providence Public Library (PPL) will host Lawyers in the Library.  Each month, there will be a topic-specific presentation followed by an opportunity to speak with a lawyer about your particular topic-related issue.

Rhode Coders 2.0 Begins January 23 at PPL

Library To Offer FREE Coding Workshops to Teens, Who Can Also Earn High School Credit

TEENS: Have you ever wondered how games like Angry Birds and Bejeweled were created? Or even websites like Yahoo and Ebay? We will help you dig into the code and ultimately learn how to build your own game or website. This program is FREE and open to teens in grades 7 – 12.  No coding experience necessary.
