The Pathways Program is Run by the RI Family Literacy Initiative at PPL

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation has provided the Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI) at based at Providence Public Library with a $10,000 grant in support of its Pathways to College and Career Program. According to RIFLI program manager Karisa Tashjian, the funds will support 90 adult immigrants with English and/or math skills at or below the 9th grade level to enter or improve their employment, learn career skills, earn a high school diploma, and/or gain admittance to college.

The goal of the program is to create pathways for lower skilled immigrants to access and succeed in training or educational opportunities that result in livable wage employment. "We are grateful to Bank of America for supporting RIFLI and this program. As we look to provide our community with important educational and workforce development initiatives, Bank of America's investment in our organization and programs will enable us to continue performing our vital work," said Tashjian.
