Next week kicks off Computer Science Education Week and the Hour of Code.  With the assistance of <IntraCity> Geeks and Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, Providence Public Library will be teaching coding to local students on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (December 8, 10 and 11) from 3 – 5 pm.

Students will learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript and how to create variables, conditional statements and functions to re-create games like Angry Birds, Snow Queen Elsa and much more.  Students will be able to demonstrate their creations on Friday, where they will win prizes based on creativity and best use of coding techniques.

This event is open to the public. Children in grades 6 – 12 are welcome. Middle school students and high school freshmen will need their parents’ permission or must be accompanied by an adult.
