The Library’s Sunday Hours are 1 – 5 pm, October 20 – May 11
Providence Public Library (PPL) will celebrate its official re-opening on Sundays (1 – 5 pm) on Sunday, October 20. To kick off the 2013-14 program year, the Library invites you to join in one of two public guided architectural tours of the Library’s historic 1900 building to be held at 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm. The free tours will begin at the Library’s entrance at 225 Washington Street, Providence.
Members of the public are invited to visit and learn about this architectural gem at the heart of our community, in addition to the Library’s unique and special collections, including the Rhode Island Collection. Visitors can take in this month’s exhibition in the Providence Journal Rhode Island Room (First Floor): Lewis Carroll & Magic, featuring items from the Wetmore and Percival Collections in PPL’s Special Collections.
For film buffs, the Library is pleased to be a part of the 2013 Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival with screenings of six shorts: Films with a Lovecraftian Flavor from 2:30 – 5:00 pm in its Auditorium (3rd Floor).
Children and families are welcome in the Chace Children’s Discovery Library (Ground Level), where families who choose to join the newly established Friends of the Children’s Library will receive introductory offers, including a free book bag.
