Business & Workforce Development
Providence Public Library assists individuals, entrepreneurs and small businesses, as well as educational institutions, municipalities and non-profits, through its substantial and specialized services and collections in business, patent and trademark, government documents and foundations.
As it has throughout its history, the Library continues to serve in the current growing “knowledge economy” as a stable and powerful tool for the business community and state agencies seeking to build a strong and resilient Rhode Island economy. The Library's business and workforce development services help to:

Small Business Support
Online Information Resources available around the clock, including LearningExpress Library Platform (test preparation), and the ProJo Archives, serve as small business resources and programs that help to reduce market entry costs to prospective small businesses, strengthen existing businesses and enable the creation of new enterprises.
Programs & Workshops for individuals seeking information and support in business planning and development receive this critical support as a free service through regularly offered series/seminars.
Workforce Development and Job Seeker Services
Employment and Career Resources offered by the Library prepare workers with new technologies and the skills training needed to succeed in today’s marketplace. Providing public computers, Internet access, and information resources, the Library is a first point of entry for many new technology users. The Library offers help with job search/information and application online, often in collaboration with local workforce agencies.
Technology & Computer Training
Technology Education/Computer Classes offered regularly and free by the Library provide important job readiness support and technology skills training/building. This valuable advancement opportunity is open to all Rhode Islanders, no matter the level of knowledge or experience, whether for personal productivity or professional application. A wide array of classes for adults are repeated regularly, including all levels and programs in Microsoft Office products, as well as a variety of other software, tools and subjects.
