At the age of 56, Colonel Susan Luz was deployed as an Army Nurse to Mosul, Iraq. It was 2006 and the troop surge had just begun. Colonel Luz had lived a life devoted to public service. Now she would follow in her father's footsteps--serving her country in a war zone as he had under General Patton in World War II. The Nightingale of Mosul is her story. As one publisher said, "It is the true story of a female soldier in Iraq who was awarded the Bronze Star--not for fighting, but for fighting to care."
