SANTA MAMBA will be performing!  Free children's activities and dance lessons. There will be a penny social with over 30 prizes!

Santa Mamba will provide the Latin Roots Rock beat at a festive celebration in support of the Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative’s free English as a Second Language and Citizenship classes offered in libraries in Cranston, East Providence, Pawtucket and Providence.

Where many bands that fall under the broad classification of “Latin” consist of musicians with a shared ethnic heritage, Santa Mamba’s story is different. The members come from different places and grew up in different times. They have little in common, besides that they were all born with a passion for music and openness to it in all its varieties of expression. They have worked hard to claim their sound as a band. Over time they have forged a sound that they call Latin Roots Rock, taking a firm understanding of various Latin and American musical traditions and giving them new voice in a unique combination of styles and personalities. They pride themselves on their performance, and always endeavor to create an experience for their audience. They set big goals for themselves; their chief ambition is to get the whole world dancing.

All proceeds from ticket sales and a Penny Social will benefit the RI Family Literacy Initiative’s free classes. There will be free dance lessons and children’s activities. Tickets can be purchased by calling 401-455-8041 or emailing amanda.rifli@gmail.com. There is free parking in The Hi Hat parking lot that evening at 3 Davol Square, Providence, near the Point Street Bridge.

The mission of the Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI) is to increase immigrants’ English and career readiness skills necessary to navigate systems, enter and retain employment, transition to postsecondary and training programs and be positive parental models and active citizens.
