Printing Woodcuts on Cloth - by Jules

Jules is a relief printmaker with a concentration in the art of woodcuts and lino block printing, and she has maintained Heron Pond Studio for over 25 years.  She has contributed a small group of her Prayer Flag work to the Netting and Knitting display and she will share a demonstration of her process – from design to the completed print.  Jules will bring along the tools used for woodcutting and printing and will share ideas with discussion about the creative process.

Netting and Knitting by Pnina Pressburger with community collaboration

The display currently featured in the Community Room display case has evolved from artist Pnina Pressburger’s earlier library exhibit Threading for Survival.

Netting and Knitting further explains through art and craft how the same techniques used to make nets were used later with finer materials to create articles for personal adornment, and how threads are used to create something stronger, useful, and provide economic benefit to the maker.
