Animation: The Art and Science of Visual Perception with Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art
During this program, youth learn about “persistence of vision” - the name often given to the way the human brain blends sudden changes into smooth motion. It is this interpretation by our brains that make movies possible. Program participants will make a Victorian era animation (a thaumatrope) to take home, and work in small groups to make their own stop-motion film to be premiered at the end of the outreach and to be viewed later on the RIMOSA website. Additional post-program activities can include youth working individually to write a dialogue, narration, or “director’s comments” for their short film.
Space limited; please pre-register onlilne or call the Children's Romm at 455-8025.
The statewide RI Summer Reading Program is supported by the RI Office of Library and Information Services with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, McDonald’s Local Owner/Operators of RI, the Pawtucket Red Sox, Citizens Bank and Pepsi.
