As part of the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Reading Across Rhode Island, Living Literature presents a readers’ theater performance of Caleb’s Crossing by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Geraldine Brooks. Historical fiction based on fact, the tale illustrates 17th century repression intensified by the harshness of pioneer life. The vividly detailed journey of Caleb Cheeshahteaumuck, the first Native American to graduate from Harvard College in 1665, is a story about friendship, spiritual attitudes of faith and belief, of bigotry, prejudice---and hope.
This performance is made possible by a Legislative Grant from the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
