The Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI), based at Providence Public Library and a member agency of the Rhode Island Citizenship Consortium (RICC), is pleased to announce Citizenship Naturalization Ceremonies during the week of July 4 at Providence Public Library (July 2), Barrington Public Library (June 30) and Pawtucket Public Library (July 1).  The ceremonies, in collaboration with the local United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office in Johnston are held for residents who have recently passed their Naturalization exams to take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States.

RICC is a group of adult education agencies that work together to promote citizenship education and public awareness of the citizenship process in the state, sponsoring a number of ongoing events in collaboration with the USCIS office.  Consortium members provide citizenship classes in their communities and participate in other activities, including quarterly forums on the citizenship process and information sessions in public libraries or other public venues.

During the past two years, RIFLI has helped 90 immigrants successfully prepare for citizenship. In addition to RIFLI, members of the Citizenship Consortium, include Dorcas International Institute, The Catholic Diocese of Providence, Progreso Latino and The Genesis Center.

The Library Passport Program, which is based at Pawtucket Public Library and benefits the free adult literacy programs of RIFLI, will be offering services during these events.  For more information about the Library Passport Program, please visit:
