The Bicycle City Greg Sucharew 2016 | Developing Nations, Documentary Feature | 99 min.

After his stint in Ecuador as a Peace Corps volunteer, where only his landlord had access to a bicycle, David Schweidenback had the bright idea to send used American bicycles to developing world towns as economic development aid. The Bicycle City brings us to the Nicaraguan city of Rivas, the first city to begin receiving the used bikes in 1991, and where, with local help, the program has been proven a success. Xiomara Davila, Joaquin Obando, and Julia Jiron show us daily life in Rivas, and we see how the bicycle has impacted this developing world town.
