gf 3575 America's Cup Races 1974 Courageous - lofted at Minneford's Yacht Yard in City Island, New York. Subassemblies were prefabricated and then welded together--which is why the tanks are on the deck. Designed by Olin Stephens, Courageous is made of 5086 H-34 aluminum alloy. A considerable amount of time and money was saved by building in aluminum rather than the traditional wood.
