gf 5125.1 State House - Old Colony House - Newport - front door This building was erected by 1742 from designs of Richard Munday. It is perhaps the second oldest capitol building in America. It was used as one of two state Rhode Island Capitol Buildings until 1900. This building is open to visitors; among its many interesting objects is a collection of historic flags.
