My City, My Place
In My City, My Place, a summer employment program at Providence Public Library, youth work with Hospitality, Tourism, and Marketing professionals and library staff to highlight points of interest in Providence. Participants are taught how to edit video and images, receive and implement feedback, and deliver a marketing pitch with a tourism focus. Woven throughout the program, PPL has created highly engaging digital playlists that integrate technology and career skill development. Each playlist includes connected learning opportunities and resources that allow youth to explore their interests in ways that relate to academic achievement, career development, and civic engagement. Completion of the playlists result in career awareness, work readiness skills, tech skills, and digital badges.
