The Journal of the Brewster: Fantastic Sounds of Her Voyage and Dreams on Board
Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 5:00 PM, Providence Public Library Auditorium
Creative fellow, Joe DeGeorge, will perform original programmatic music inspired by the journal of the whaling bark Brewster that was kept by the third mate Marshall Keith during her 1863-65 voyage. The music created by DeGeorge will illustrate accounts of the voyage juxtaposed with the dreams that Keith recorded in the Journal of the Brewster. Additional creative contributions of puppet-artist Willow Gianotti-Garlinghouse and voice actor Austin O’Goffa will further bring to life this notable whaling voyage.
Joe DeGeorge is a composer, musician, sound artist and quahogger. In addition to his collaborative work in bands, Downtown Boys, and Harry and the Potters, Joe DeGeorge creates fantasy synthesizer soundscapes, film scores, and holds a dedicated saxophone practice.
