August 22, 2018

Effective Tuesday, September 4, 2018, Providence Public Library’s (PPL) hours will expand and remain in place through its upcoming renovation.  PPL’s new hours will be as follows:

Monday – 12:30 – 8:30 pm

Tuesday – 9:30 am – 5:30 pm

Wednesday – 9:30 am – 8:30 pm

Thursday – 9:30 am – 5:30 pm

Friday – 9:30 am – 2:00 pm

Saturday – 9:30 am – 2:30 pm

Our hours on Mondays (12:30 – 8:30 pm) and Saturdays (9:30 am – 2:30 pm) will remain unchanged during the renovation.  Due to and throughout the renovation, the Library will be closed on Sundays.

“Despite current space and programming constraints due to the renovation, we are committed to providing excellent service.  Expanding our weekday hours of operation will help us provide everyone with additional opportunities to access and use the Library.  Our goal, post-renovation, is to continue with expanded service hours,” said Jack Martin, PPL Executive Director.

In addition to primary services in the Providence Journal Rhode Island Room, and Learning Lounge activities and some classes taking place in the Ship Room and Garden Courtyard (in the Library’s original building), a number of library programs are continuing in partner locations throughout the city, including:

Children’s Library programs, including weekly Baby Steps for Infants, Cradle to Crayons Story times and Family Learning Sundays, which will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Providence at 300 Westminster St. beginning in September.

PVD Young Makers Open Studio at Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art (RIMOSA) at 763 Westminster St., Providence)
